PetSmart Recalls Grreat Choice Canned Dog Food Due to Choking Hazard, Metal Pieces
PetSmart has issued a recall of its Grreat Choice canned Adult Dog Food with Chicken & Rice Classic Ground sold on PetSmart.com, Pet360.com, PetFoodDirect.com and in nationwide PetSmart retail stores. This product is being recalled due to metal contamination that could potentially be a choking hazard to pets.
This recall was initiated after receiving notification from the manufacturer of consumer complaints.
The recalled products include the following Grreat Choice dog food sold between Oct. 10, 2016 and Feb. 7, 2017:

The Best By date is found on the bottom of the can. To date no other Grreat Choice products are impacted by this issue.
Customers who purchased the recalled food should stop feeding it to their pets and bring any remaining cans to their local PetSmart store for a full refund or exchange. I fed my dog great choice dry dog food and noticed that both dogs had adult coat in their hair started falling out my brother had fed his puppy the same thing and was experiencing the same symptoms great choice dog food is not good for any animals

Mollie, there is also a related recall of Companion brand canned dog food, sold at Giant, Martin’s and Stop & Shop supermarkets. That notice has not yet made it to FDA, but it is posted on the supermarkets’ recall pages. Same expiration code, same can size, same explanation. I have no idea who the manufacturer is, as these are private label products.
