Poisoned Pets speaks at the FDA meeting; advocates safe pet food

UPDATE: Just in case you missed my mini-speech/presentation to the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine when I spoke at the FSMA Public Meeting (below) on the Proposed Rule to Establish Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals in Sacramento, CA on December 6, 2013 (which I hope you didn’t!), you now have the golden opportunity to read exactly what I said to the FDA/CVM in the FSMA Transcript! My brilliant comment comment, which was a big hit with the big wigs, begins on page 102 of the transcript. And I ask the FDA two very interesting questions about waste in pet food, which you can read on page 134 and 159 of the transcript. It’s good – so, don’t miss it!

I will be attending the FSMA public meeting in Sacramento this Friday on the Proposed Rule to Establish Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals.

The event, which will be held on December 6, 2013 at 8:30 am – 2:30 pm, is one of only three public meetings held in the U.S.  to discuss the proposed rule to establish current good manufacturing practice and to require hazard analysis and risk based preventive controls for food for animals. The meeting is also designed to solicit stakeholder and public comments on the proposed rules, and respond to questions about the proposed rules, which might sound like a real snore to the average person, but it won’t be for anyone whose pets were affected by a contaminated pet food or treat.

This is the third of three public meetings FDA plans to hold on this FSMA proposed rule.  If you want to attend the meeting in person and get the golden opportunity to meet me or attend it virtually via an Adobe Connect webcast where you will be able to see yours truly in action, you can find additional information on the FSMA Meeting page.

Due to limited space and time, FDA encourages all persons who wish to attend the meetings to register in advance. There is no fee to register for the public meetings, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is recommended because seating is limited. Onsite registration will be accepted, as space permits, after all preregistered attendees are seated.
