Himalayan’s Ruff Roots dog chew toy recalled for metal contamination

PetSmart quietly posted a product withdrawal of a dog chew toy with a potentially serious problem: metal contamination.

The Himalayan Corporation has issued a voluntary recall of specific Ruff Roots All-Natural Dog Chew Toys due to potential metal contamination. While this recall affects all lots of the Ruff Roots Dog Chew Toys sold by PetSmart, no other Himalayan Corporation products are impacted by this issue.

It is unclear how the roots became contaminated with metal as they are described on their website as roots that “originate from the roots of shrubs or trees…Only the tuber of the root is harvested which then sprouts again.” (see graphic below)
