J.J. Fuds expands recall to include contaminated dog jerky treats

According to a fax document (sent by Frontier Distributing to its retail customers, January 27, 2015) obtained by pet food safety advocate Mike Sagman of the Dog Food Advisor, J.J. Fuds of Valparaiso, Indiana is expanding its dog food recall to include two more products due to an undetermined contamination.

The following products have been added to the recall:

J.J. Fuds Duck Strips (2 ounce)
5 lb. bags
UPC #: 654592-345928
Lot Code Date: 5/7/14

J.J. Fuds Beef Strips (2 ounce)
10 lb. bags
UPC #: 654592-345751
Lot Code Date: 1/6/15

The distributor’s fax announcement does not specify the type of contamination. No other information is available. No information appears about either product on J.J. Fuds’ website. As soon as more information becomes available this article will be updated as soon as further details are made available by the company or the FDA.

Previously, J.J. Fuds recalled a select lot of their Chicken Tender Chunks frozen raw poultry pet food because it had the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in animals and humans.
